I am so excited to share with you my Memorial Day weekend trip to Atlanta! I was in town for a friend’s wedding and was able to stay late on Monday to make a fun trip out of it! I was also really excited to get a chance to finally visit the city since I had only ever passed through the Atlanta airport.
Upon arriving Saturday, I was so excited to find that a Neiman Marcus was within walking distance from our hotel! What could be a better surprise than that? Not only did I get some good shopping in, I was able to explore the city and get very #cultured with Atlanta history. Living in my Texas bubble, I would have to say I really enjoyed my visit and look forward to going back someday!
I arrived late Saturday afternoon and that night we went to this adorable pizza place called Antico. Oh. My. GOODNESS. It was some of the best pizza I have ever had! Wood-fired oven pizza is definitely the way to my heart! I highly recommend this place if you are ever in Atlanta. Great for a small group of people, but might have to wait for a larger group because of its popularity! It was also BYOB, which I really enjoyed, as it had more of a casual feel. We then went over to Bar Amalfi for some pre – wedding festivities. This was also such a cool venue and was perfect for the weather! It was a little cooler at night, which was such a nice break from the Houston heat. However, during the day, it felt just like I was back at home. Who knew another city could be just as humid?
It was also the perfect opportunity to wear this fun top shown below! If you have been following along, you can tell I am definitely a fan of big sleeves and gingham! I have worn this top to dinner several times and I love how you can tie to adjust it to go more off the shoulder or closed. It also travels really well and doesn’t wrinkle in your suitcase due to it being 100% polyester, which is always a plus! I am wearing a size Small. However, beware, it has a shorter hem, so I would wear jeans with a higher waist if you don’t like any mid-drift showing. It also comes in several different colors and such a fun top to wear!
I also have on my fun earrings again from pearls and rocks. Use my code BYRDROCKS at checkout to receive 20% off! This is also site wide, so if you see something else you like, feel free to use my code and save some $$$. My clutch is actually from last season from Tuckernuck, but is on their website again this summer! YAY, y’all can still shop it! It was great especially for this weekend as it went with all of my outfits! I tend to always over pack so this little trick definitely came in handy for me! Recognize these shoes? They are so great, but they are also from last season. I have some similar options linked below.

Sunday we had a chance to venture out to Ponce City Market. This was I think by far my favorite stop of the trip. It was so different from any indoor/ outdoor mall I had ever seen. Inside there were so many delicious food options – picture a high-end food court. All the retail stores were adorable including a chubbies store (so cute & fun), Anthropologie, Madewell, and Ponce’s very own retailers such as Ponce Denim Company. I of course only bought something in Anthro, but Ponce Denim Company was such a neat store with great quality if you ever get to check it out. I also found it so fun you could walk around with a cocktail while shopping! I don’t get to do this often enough & thought it was so much fun to enjoy the shops with a super cute cocktail from Mercury Room. If you saw my instagram story, you saw my adorable drink! I ordered a cocktail called the Hummingbird. It also came with the cutest little flower in my drink!
This off the shoulder top I wore was perfect for the weather and walking around. We ended up going to a Jazz Festival in Piedmont Park after and felt comfortable since it was pretty toasty during the day. It also comes in black and is currently 30% off on J.crew. Shop my link below! I am wearing a size 4. It also does really well if you wash on cold and hang to dry. My earrings are from last season, but I have a similar pair linked. And my shoes were so comfy especially because we did a lot of walking. I feel like everyone has this sandal, but after getting this black pair I definitely know why. They are so easy and comfortable on! They come in several colors and seriously can’t go wrong with any color.

For my wedding look, I decided to go with this fun blue dress. I wanted to wear something colorful for summer and something I knew would be easy to dance in. Also, blue is one of my favorite colors to wear because it really make my blonde highlights pop! Blue is really a great go-to for me. I would love to hear about what is your favorite color to wear below! Also, this dress was perfect to pack since it is 50% nylon and 50% rayon and didn’t wrinkle! Even when I brought it home it went perfectly back into my closet & is ready to wear to the next event. This dress is unfortunately unavailable ( I got it on sale at Neiman’s around Christmas time). However, I have several options linked below all for under $100! I am in the same shoes, earrings, and clutch linked above.

Monday we went and toured the historic Swan House. If you are familiar with Bayou Bend in Houston, this was just as beautiful if not even more beautiful! You can read a little bit about this beautiful 1930’s home here. If you are ever in Atlanta, I definitely suggest you go on a tour. They also filmed two of The Hunger Games movies there, which was really cool to see. I never saw the last two (opps) but I am definitely tempted to see them there after being on set! The lawn and garden were absolutely gorgeous and would definitely be a dream place to have a wedding!
I hope you all enjoyed this post! Please let me know if you have any questions about my outfits or other questions about trip! I hope everyone has a great first week of June!
