Friends,

What a week it has been! My life seems to be slowly going back to normal as we turn to the Labor Day holiday. I am so fortunate to not have been impacted by the Hurricane Harvey, but some weren’t as lucky. It breaks my heart to hear about family, friend’s, and co-worker’s homes that were destroyed in the storm. This past week, it was so hard to sleep at night not knowing if I would wake up to water in my own home or find that our electricity or water had been shut off. Although I was one of the lucky ones, the constant worry and stress really took a toll on me as it did all of Texas.

LOOKING AT THE BRIGHTER SIDE…

Even though the storm has finally passed, it will take a while for our city to rebuild and the water to drain. I am amazed by the efforts of local businesses and retailers to raise money for relief efforts. Also, I am touched by one of my favorite national retailers, Nordstrom. Nordstrom is honoring those who were affected by the storm by having a direct link to the American Red Cross on their site. That is why I want to shop Nordstrom BIG this labor day. Although I am wearing some older pieces from my wardrobe, I am wearing several current styles from Nordstrom. Lastly, I have rounded up a few other favorite retailers and their Labor Day sales. I believe we need a reason to smile amongst all that has happened in Houston.

Kristen, or known by her friend's as "Byrdie," is an ambitious twenty-something currently living in Houston, TX. Before pursuing her Master's, she graduated from Texas Christian University with a Fashion Merchandising Degree. Since graduating she has had wonderful opportunities with Stanley Korshak, Academy Sports + Outdoors, and Francesca's. Her love of Fashion couples with her desire to help other's in need -- whether it's Fashion advice, or just a friend that needs help, she is always willing to lend a hand to others. In her spare time, she can most likely be found at any place that serves Mexican food, walking her maltese pups, or volunteering at the Houston Junior League. While she never thought writing was her "thing," she was encouraged to start writing her own blog when she interned for a blogger while at TCU. Kristen has a lot of things to say, and wants to spread her love of Fashion to friends and followers everywhere!
